This is so true: "reasons for the repression of abortion debate are not solely to blame on America. A part of the repression is certainly attributable to codified state suppression of organized groups and the One Child Policy itself." No country should be blamed for a bad effect of another country. It's the country itself making laws that would prompt them to self-destruct.

That's a good point. I didn't know that the statistics for the rate of autism abortions was so high. Can you shoot over some data links?

I live in Beijing. I have a wonderful girl, a toddler, with Down syndrome! Even after 2 other previous children, this one is the light of my life! The West is completely hypocritical and does not have a leg to stand on if criticizing China's abortion policies (for the record, I strongly disagree with them). With a 92% termination rate for sweet, gentle and joyful babies whose only crime is to carry an extra chromosome, they have some nerve. Prenatal screenings are scheduled for about 2 weeks before the legal termination cutoff, giving parents a tiny window to adjust to this news and seek support in the community. When doctors are openly biased- only willing to counsel parents about the worst case scenarios, rather than the true numbers, and potential joys! - then America's system and agenda (eugenics?) needs to be thoroughly examined as well.
