ChinaSMACK always has interesting topics. They translate popular stories from China’s internet. Yesterday, they put up another interesting translation and a reminder of the vastness of the issues currently being addressed by healthcare reform in China.

In “Waiting All Night Outside A Hospital Hoping To See A Doctor“, chinaSMACK highlights a young reporter’s story from the Hunan province, although this is not a problem unique to this province. Waiting and finding the right doctor is one of the most pressing issues in China. The perception of hospitals and doctors lead to overcrowding at certain hospitals.

Here, the story comes from Changsha, the 19th largest city in China, with only 6.1 million people at the prefecture level. (larger than most small European countries…). Do check their post for what life in China means for some people, a couple of interesting pictures, and the reaction from Chinese internet users.
