GE more bullish on Healthcare in India than China

See the following article for GE’s CEO Jeff Immelt comment as he bets more on opportunities in healthcare in India (GE bets big on India, to double revenue).

When asked about the attractiveness of India vis-a‘-vis China to do business, Immelt favoured India. Particularly in the healthcare sector, he said, India offers better environment as systems are closer to US. “There is a bigger private system here (India), there is a bigger clinic system here. There are more healthcare instruments here,” he added.

Immelt is banking on high growth of India to double GE’s revenue. “I would be disappointed if we don’t double it (revenue) in the next three or four years and that is my expectation from the team here,” he said.

Interesting… I would love to see sales breakdown of GE’s healthcare business in India vs. China and what they’re seeing vis-à-vis end markets to justify this.

Ditto on your pondering about what they are seeing…but, wait, maybe that's our job to figure it out? Damn it all, so little time.

Also, check to see the October 12th post on Manish Rathi's blog (it is on the blogroll) about healthcare in India – maybe there is a an angle you can think of to cross post with.
