Coach K and health leadership come together

Posted By Damjan DeNoble

Whenever somebody writes about health care and ties it in with  Blue Devil basketball, they are getting a mention.  Dr. Stephen Blattner MD MBA is so far the first person to pull it off in a post titled The Devilish Vision Thing – for Health Care Leaders at the Health Care Leadership Blog.

While it is a bit obvious that most people want an honest, forward thinking person as their boss or their “leader” (no one wants  a backwards thinking, liar as their boss) I do think that Dr. Blattner is right to imply that  creating buy-in as a health leader is and indispensable skill.  The health industry is the most complicated business environment in the world, employing a wide array of people; blue collar, white collar, people with GEDs, and executives and doctors with triple PHDs.  Figuring out a way to make sense of everyones view points and crystallizing them all into a viable, going forward strategy is a tall task.  Those skills need to be looked after early.

In any case, I love when real industry veterans start writing blogs like this.  They work best when the writers are willing to provide illustrative stories from their experiences.  Keep the Health Care Leaders Blog on your readers though, because it looks promising as the entries strive to pull from health and health leadership literature.
